Chap. 259. —An ACT to incorporate the Union Car Works Mauufacturing
Company,

1. Be it enacted by the @eneral assembly, That Georve
W. Grice, William J. Wright. Samuel M. Wilson, William
J. Baker. William H. H. Tlodees and Alfred M. Wilson, and
such other persons as may be hereafter associated with them,
shall be and they are hereby incorporated and made a body
politic and corporate, under the name end style of The Union
Car Works Manutieturing Company: for the purpose of mann
freturing railroad coaches and ears, agricultural implements,
lumber and other articles; and they are hereby invested with
ail the rights. powers and privilesps, and subject. to all the
rules, reculations and restrictions xet forth and contained in
chapters fifty-six and. fifty-seven of the Code of Virginia, so
far as the same apply to a manufacturing company, and not
inconsistent with the provisions of this act.
2. Be it further enacted, That the capital stock of said
company shall not be less than fifty thousand dollars nor
more than two hundred and fifty thousand dollars, and be
divided into shares of one hundred dollars each; and that
the said company shall have the right to purchase and hold
lands, not excee ling at any one time five thousand acres; and
to erect buildings thereon; and to rent, lease and sell the
same to their employees: and that the said company shall
have authority to assign, pledge or hypothecate any bonds,
stocks and choses in action owned by or due to it, to secure
the payment of any debt or obligation or performance of
any contract.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage, and shall be
subject to alteration, amendment or repeal, at the pleasure of
the general assembly.
