Chap. 253.—An ACT to incorporate the Belvidere Manufacturing
Company.
Passed Degember 14, 1865,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That A. TH.
Christian, John F. Whitfield, Isaac Davenport, Wellington
Goddin and Kh. A. Lancaster, and such other persons as may
hereafter be associated with them, shall be and are hereby
incorporated and made a body politic and incorporate, under
the name and style of The Belvidere Manufacturing Com-
pany: for the purpose of manufacturing cotton, wool, paper
and iron or other articles; and are hereby invested with all
the rights, privileges and powers conterred upon such bodies
politic and corporate by the act entitled an aet prescribing
general recvulations for the incorporation of manufacturing
and mining companies, passed February the thirteenth, eigh-
teen hundred and thirty-seven, and made subject to the re-
stricfions and regulations prescribed by said act.
2. Be it further enacted, That the capital stock of the said
company shall not be less than thirty thousand dollars nor
more than two hundred thousand dollars, to be divided into
shares of one hundred dollars each: and the said company
shall have the right to purchase and hold land, not exceeding
five acres, in the city of Richmond, counties of Ilenrico and
Chesterfield.
3. This act shall be in force from the passing thereof, and
shall be subject to modification or repeal. at the pleasure of
the gencral assembly.
