Chap. 242.—An ACT to incorporate the Arcadia Iron Works Company.
Passcd February 10, 1866.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That William W.
Boyd, and such persons as he shall associate with him, and
their successors, are hereby constituted a body politic and
corporate, by the name and style of The Arcadia Iron Works
Company; for the purpose of purchasing and holding lands
and other property in the counties of Botetourt and Bedford,
in the state of Virginia, and of mining and manufacturing
iron and other mineral substances, and operating saw mills,
and selling and transporting the prod ucts of their said mining,
manufacturing and milling operations; and by that name and
style, they shall have perpetual succession; may contract and
be contracted with, sue and be sued, implead and be im-
pleaded; and be invested with all the rights and privileges
conferred, and subject to all the rules, regulations and restric-
tions imposed by the Code of Virginia, so far as not incon-
sistent with this act.
2. That the capital stock of the said company shall not be
less than one hundred thousand dollars nor more than three
hundred thousand dollars, to be divided into shares of one
hundred dollars each; and the said capital may be increased
from time to time, to the said maximum limit, by the direc-
tors of the said company.
38. That the said company shall have power to fix the
number of and appoint its directors, and to make such by-
laws and regulations from time to time as it may deem neces-
sary or proper for the management of its affairs.
4, That the said company may hold lands, in the said
counties of Botetourt and Bedford, not exceeding in all thirty
thousand acres, and may own and employ canal boats.
5. This act shall be in force from its passage, and be sub-
ject to modification or repeal, at. the pleasure of the general
assembly.
