Chap. 236.—An ACT to incerporate the Mantua Coal Mining Company,
Pas-ed February 3, 1266,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
J. A. Peterson, PL Berkeley, M. F. Iurst, ALR. Tigeard,
Kt. E. Haskins, I. G. Liech, and such other persons as may
be hereniter associated with them, and their suecessors, are
hereby created a body politic and corporate, under the name
and style of The Mantua Coal Mining Company; to scarch
for, mine, transport and vend coal and other minerals.
2. Phat the said company shall have power and authority
to appoint one or more of its members, or other person or
persons, to arrange, control and direct the business of said
company, according to the by-laws, rules and regulations
which said company may from time to time adopt for its
government and the transaction of its business; and shall be
invested with all the rights, powers and privileges conterred
on such bodies pohtie and corporate in relation to Joint stock
companies and corpors tions venerally; and shall be subject
to all the rules, revulations and restrictions contained in the
Code of Virginia, and any law amendatory thereof, excepting
where the same may he inconsistent with the provisions of
this act.
3. The capital stock of said company shall not be less than
fity thousand dollars nor more than five hundred thousand
dollars, divided into shares of one hundred dollars each: and
suid company shall have the right to purchase and hold lands
in the county of Chesterficld, not exceeding five thousand
acres,
4. This act shall be in force from its passage, and be sub-
ject to amendment, modification or repeal, at the pleasure of
the general assembly.
