Chap. 230.—An ACT to incorporate the Valley Mining, Exvloring and
Manutacturing Company,
Passed February 28, 1506,
1, Be it enacted by the general assembly, That Philip
Phares, junior, Joseph D. Price. John R. Koogler and John
C. Woodson, and such other persons as may be hereafter
associated with them, shall be and they are hereby incorpo-
rated and made a body politic and corporate, by the name
and style of lhe Valley Mining, Exploring and Manufacturing
Company ; for the purpose ‘of mining and manufacturing
coal, iron and other mineral substances in the Valley of Vir-
ginia; and for this purpose they are hereby iny ested with all
the richts, powers and privileges conferred, and made subject
to all the rules, regulations and restrictions preseribed by the
Code of Virginia, and acts amendatory thereof, so far as the
same are applicable to such corporations, and are not ineon-
sistent with the provisions of this act.
2. The capital stock of said company shall be not less than
fifty thousand dollars and not more than five hundred thou-
sand dollars, to be divided into shares of not less than fitty
dollars cach: and said company shall have the right to pur-
chase and hold Jands, not excecdiny: fifty t thousand acres at
any one time, and may be organized at any time within two
years trom the passage of this act.
& This act shall be in force trom its passage, and shall be
subject to modification, amendment or repeal, at the pleasure
of the gencral assembly.
