Chap. 227.—An ACT to incorporate the Whitehall Mining and Manufac-
turing Company.
Passed January 20, 1866.
I. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That John Ans-
pach, Phihp L. Fox, and their associates, successors and
assions, be and they are hereby incorporated and made a
body politic and corporate, under the name and style of The
Whitehall Mining and Manufacturing Company; for the pur-
pose of mining, smelting, manutheturing and selling ores,
earths and minerals of every description, and for sawing,
manufacturing and selling Iumber, and for other milling pur-
poses, mn the counties of Spotsyly ania, Louisa, Oransre and
Culpeper: and they are hereby invested with all the ‘rights,
powers and priv ileges, and subjected to all the rules, recula.
tions and restrictions prescribed by the fifty-sixth and fifty-
seventh chapters of the Code of Virginia, for the govern-
ment of such bodies politic and corporate, so far as the same
may be applicable to and not inconsistent with the ri@hts and
powers herein granted.
2. “The capital stock of said company shall not be less than
one hundred thousand dollars, to be divided into shares of
not less than ten dollars each. - They shall have the right to
purchase, hold and sell lands in the counties aforesaid, not
exceeding three thousand acres at any one time.
3. This act shall he in force from its passace, and shall be
subject to any alteration, amendment or modification, at the
pleasure of the general assembly.
