Chap. 199.—An ACT to incorporate the Coal-tield and Tide water
Ruatlroad Cempany,.
Passed March 3, 1506,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That it shall be
lawful to open books of subscription in the city of Richmond,
under the direction of Franklin Stearns, Seth M. Barton, W.
B. Wooldridge, W. G. Clarke, KR. L. Walker, Charles 8. Mills,
John C. Stanard and John B. Stanard, or any three of them;
or in New York or elsewhere, under the superintendence of
such persons as any three or more of the above named cor-
porators may sclect and appoint, for the purpose of receiving
subscriptions to an amount not exceeding five hundred thou-
sand dollars, in shares of one hundred dollars each, to consti-
tute a joint capital stock for constructing a railroad from anv
point of the locality known as Coal-field, in Chesterfield
county, to Bermuda Hundreds, or any other point on James
river, below tide water.
2. Whenever two hundred and fitty thousand dollars of
the capital stock shall have been subscribed tor, the sub-
scribers, or their representatives, shall be and they are hereby
declared a body politic and corporate, under the name and
style of The Coal-field and Tide-water Railroad Company :
and shall be entitled to all the privileges conterred, and sub-
ject to all the restrictions and regulations imposed hy the
statute law of Virginia, so far as the same are applicable, and
not inconsistent with this act.
3. This act shall he in foree from its passave.
