Chap. 176.—An ACT to authorize the County Court of Fauqwer to boer-
row Money for County purposes,
Passed December 14, 1865.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the county court of Fauquier county be and it is hereby
authorized and empowered, at any term thereof to which al
the magistrates of the county shall have been regularly sum-
moned to attend, and at which a majority shall be present, to
issue bonds, in the name of the county of Fauquier, for such
sum or sums of money as the justices composing said court
may in their discretion determine, not exceeding in the ag.
gregate the sum of five thousand dollars. and to sell the
same, and with the proceeds of sale to repair and Improve, in
such manner as gaid court may think proper, the courthouse.
jail and public lot of said county, and appropriate so much o}
said proceeds as said court may deem necessary, to the sup-
port and maintenance of the poor of said county, and to the
payment of debts already contracted for that purpose.
2. That the bonds issued in pursuance of this act, shall be
made payable within not less than two nor more. than five
years from the date thereof; shall be signed by the presiding
justice of the county court, be attested by the clerk thereot
and have the seal of the court affixed thereto. ,
3. That the debts contracted and evidenced by said bonds.
shall be levied for, by the county court of said county, upon
such subjects of taxation as are or may be liable by law for
the county levy; and that the faith of the county is pledyed
for the pnnctual payment of the principal and interest o!
said bonds, when the same shal] become due.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage.
