Chap. 169.—An ACT authorizing the Overseers of the Poor of the County
of Charles City to sell the Poorhouse Tract. of Land, or the Timber on
said Land, for other purposes than the Maintenance of the Poor.
Passed February 10, 1866.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the overseers of the poor of Charles City county be and they
are hereby authorized and empowered to sell the poorhouse
tract of land in said county, or the timber on said land, for
other purposes than the maintenance of the poor, to wit, the
repairing and rebuilding the courthouse and other public
buildings of said county, and also the bridges of said county;
and the money arising trom said sale to be paid to the sherift
of said county, as the treasurer thereof.
2. The county court shall have control of said money,
when paid over to the sheriff under the first section, for the
use of the county, ,in such manner as the said county court
may think most conducive to the interest of said county.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
