Chap. 123.—An ACT releasing the State’s Interest in the Fredericksburg
— and Gordonsville Railroad, on certain conditions.
Paszed January 10, 1866.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the presi-
dent and directors of the Fredericksburg and Gordonsville
railroad company are hereby authorized and empowered to
contract with any responsible person or persons for the com-
pletion of said road within five years from. the first of Janu-
ary, eighteen hundred and sixty-six; and in the event of such
contract being made with any such person or persons, then
the said president and directors are hereby authorized and
empowered to sell the state’s interest in said road to such
person or persons, on such terms as a majority of the private
stockholders may agree to dispose of their interest in said
road. But this sale is authorized, upon condition that the
said road is to be completed within the period of five years
from the first of January, eighteen hundred and sixty-six;
and also, upon condition that the state is released from the
deferred part of her subscription to said road, now unpaid.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
