Chap. 76.—An ACT to authorize the board of supervisors of Halifax
county to issue its warrant on the treasurer of said county in favor
of Joseph C. Walker for the sum of thirty-five dollars, with interest
from February 9, 1871.
Approved February 8, 1888.
Whereas, Joseph C. Walker, of the county of Halifax, in
the year eighteen hundred and seventy-one, furnished to the
paupers of said county provisions of the value of thirty-five
dollars, for which he has received no pay; and whereas, by
a resolution of the board of supervisors of said county, passed
at its meeting held on the twenty-fifth day of November,
eighteen hundred and eighty-seven, it appears that said board
recognizes the justice of said Walker's claim for said sum of
thirty-five dollars; and whereas, under the existing provis-
ions of the law in regard to such claims, said board of super-
visors cannot legally provide for the payment of said claim;
therefore, ;
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
it shall be lawful for the board of supervisors of Halifax
county, and said board is hereby authorized and empowered
to issue its warrant on the treasurer of said county, payable
to Joseph C. Walker, for the sum of thirty-five dollars, with
interest thereon at the rate of six per centum per annum
from the ninth day of February, eighteen hundred and
seventy-one, and to include the amount of such warrant in
the annual levy for the county expenses.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
