Chap. 5.—An ACT to amend and re-enact sections seventeen’ and
twenty-one of an act approved April second, eighteen hundred and
eighty-two, entitled an act to provise for the working of roads in
the counties of Culpeper and Buckingham.
Approved January 9, 1888.
1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That
sections seventeen and twenty-one of an act approved April
second, eighteen hundred and eighty-two, entitled an act to
provide for the working of roads in the counties of Culpeper
and Buckingham, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as
follows:
§17. The court shall at the time any new road is estab-
lished, direct what width the road-bed shall be made, and
shall have power to regulate the width of all roads: provided
that the land condemned for any new road shall not be less
in width than thirty feet.
§ 21. The cost of changing roads, opening new roads, and |
building bridges and the approaches thereto, shall hereafter '
be borne by the respective districts in which they are located ;
and when located a in fue district and partly in another,
the costs shall be apportioned equitably between them by the
county court; but whenever the road to be changed or
opened or the bridge to be built is of such public and gencral
importance as to make it proper that the cost thereof shall
be borne by the whole county or by more than one diatrict,
the court may so order.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
