Chap. 452.—An ACT to authorize the town of Goodson to subscribe
to the capital stock of the Bristol and Danville railroad company.
Approved March 5, 1888.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the town
of Goodson is hereby authorized to subscribe to the capital
stock of the Bristol and Danville railroad company to the
amount of twenty-five thousand dollars, under the forms and
in the manner prescribed in the Code of Virginia of eighteen
hundred and seventy-three: provided, that the said subscrip-
tion shall not become due and payable until twenty miles of
the said railroad, beginning at Goodson, shall have been
graded, the track laid, and rolling stock in operation thereon:
provided further, that should the above subscription be voted,
the town council shall, upon the fulfilment of tae above con-
ditions, issue and deliver to the president of said railroad
company, in payment for the above subscription, bonds of the
town, having thirty years to run, and bearing interest at the
rate of six per centum per annum, payable semi-annually.
2. To meet the interest thereon, and to provide a sinking
fund of one per centum per annum, for the payment of the
principal thereof, it shall be the duty of the said council 'to
levy a tax upon the taxable property within the corporation
limits, sufficient tu provide for the said interest, and to create
and maintain the said sinking fund.
3. This act shall be in force trom its passage.
