Chap. 44.—An ACT to amend and re-enact an act entitled an act to
incorporate the Rappahannock Valley Agricultural and Mechanical
society of Fredericksburg.
Approved January 30, 1888.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the act approved March sixth, eighteen hundred and eighty-
six, entitled an act to incorporate the Rappahannock Valley
Agricultural and Mechanical society of Fredericksburg, be
amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia,
That the Rappahannock Valley Agricultural and Mechanical
society of Fredericksburg, Virginia, is hereby constituted a
body politic and corporate under the name and style of the
Rappahannock Valley Agricultural and Mechanical society of
Fredericksburg, Virginia; and the corporators shall be the
president and other elective officers of the society now in
office in pursuance of their election under the provisions of
the constitution of the society and their successors; that the
said society shall be empowered to issue stock not to exceed
fifty thousand dollars, and to sue and be sued as other cor-
porate bodies, and have a common seal.
§2. That said society may and shall be entitled to hold
lands not exceeding one hundred acres: provided, that sixty
acres now held and owned by said society for its fair grounds,
and known as the Amoret field, shall be exempt from all
unpaid taxation since January first, eighteen hundred and
eighty-seven, and the property now held by said society shall
be exempt from taxes hereafter accruing, subject to the right
of the legislature at any time to revoke this exemption.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
