Chap. 424.—An ACT to amend an act to authorize the city of Frede-
ricksburg and certain districts in Stafford and King George counties,
to purchase or lease Scott’s bridge and make the same a free bridge.
Approved March 5, 1888.
Whereas the general assembly of the state of Virginia, by
an act approved May the fourteenth, eightecn hundred and
eighty-seven, authorized the city of Fredericksburg and cer-
tain districts in the counties of King George and Staftord, to
take a vote upon the question of leasing or purchasing Scott’s
bridge across the Rappahannock river at Fredericksburg, and
to make the same a free bridge; and whereas the said district
in the said county of King George, in which said vote shall
be taken, is not described with sufficient certainty; and
whereas it is desirable before any vote is taken in any dis-
trict in the said county of King George upon the question of
uniting with any districts in Stafford county, or the city of
Fredericksburg, for the purchase or lease of Scott’s bridge,
that the said district in said county of King George should
be described with sufficient certainty; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the district in the county of King George in which the vote
may be taken upon the question of the purchase or lease of
Scott’s bridge, as provided for in the act above referred to, of
which this act is amendatory, shall be comprised between the
following lines and boundaries, to-wit: Beginning at Taylor's
mill on the Rappahannock river, and running thence with the

the main county road to Comorn, from Comorn with the
main county road to Hudson’s store; thence up the main
county road to dirt bridge; thence down run to Potomac
river; thence to the mouth of Potomac creek; thence up
Potomac creek to the line between the counties of Stafford
and King George; thence with the dividing line between the
Google
said counties to the Rappahannock river; thence to the
beginning.
2. There shall be two voting precincts in the said district, '
one at Passapatansy and the other at La Grange. ‘
3. This district, above set forth, shall be a voting district
for the exclusive purpose of taking the vote upon the ques-
tion set forth in the above recited act, of which this is amenda-
tory, and for the election of a bridge commissioner, should
the said district in the said counties of Stafford and King
George and the city of Fredericksburg, purchase or lease
Scott’s bridge.
4. It shall be the duty of the judge of the county court of 1
King George county, when petitioned by fifty voters of the?
above described district, one-half of whom shall be freeholders,
to cause a vote to be taken in the said district, and upon the
questions set forth, and in the manner prescribed in the
above recited act, approved May fourteenth, eighteen hun-
dred and eighty-seven, of which this act is amendatory.
5. All acts or parts of acts inconsistent with this act are
hereby repealed.
