Chap. 389.—An ACT to incorporate the Manteo Pleasure association.
Approved March 2, 1888.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
W. H. Allen, E. H. Matthews, R. C. Jenkins, W. K. Allen, J.
W. Cherry, of the city of Norfolk, and such other persons as:
now or may hereafter be associated with them, be and are
hereby created a body corporate under and by the name of
, the Manteo pleasure association, for the purpose of promoting
friendly intercourse among its members, establishing reading
and other rooms, maintaining fishing and pleasure boats, and
so forth, and acquiring such property as may be necessary for
their al pai
2. The capital stock of the said association shall not be less
than two hundred and fifty nor more than three thousand
dollars, and be divided into shares of five dollars each.
3. The said association may prescribe the terms upon
which its stock may be transferred, and may make any other
by-laws, rules, or regulations for its government not inconsis-
pat with the laws of the state of Virginia or of the United
tates.
4. The said association may purchase and hold or. lease any
real or personal estate: provided, that it shall not hold real
estate to exceed five acres at any one time.
5. This act shall be in force from its passage.
