Chap. 37.—An ACT to empower and authorize the local board of im-
provement of Brambleton Ward, city of Norfolk, by and with the
consent of the select and common councils of the city of Norfolk to
borrow money. é
Approved January 24, 1888.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
for the purpose of carrying on and maintaining the public
school and other necessary work, which will be conducive to
the health and welfare of Brambleton ward, which was an-
nexed to the city of Norfolk by an act to amend the charter
and to extend and define the boundaries of the city of Nor-
folk, approved April sixth, eighteen hundred and eighty-
seven, and by which act the revenues‘from taxation on real
and personal property for the year eighteen hundred and
eighty-seven, were given to Norfolk county, therefore the
said local board of improvement of the said ward be and they
are hereby authorized and empowered to borrow, with the
consent of the councils of the said city of Norfolk, such sum
or sums of money, from time to time, for the year eighteen
hundred and eighty-eight, total amount not to exceed two
thousand dollars, and the president of the said board shall
i sign the note or notes to carry out the provisions of this act
not to exceed the amount of two thousand dollars, which is
the total amount allowed by thisact. The note or notes may
bear interest, and shall be a lien on, and paid out of the taxes
assessed and collected for the year eighteen hundred and
eighty-eight, on the realand personal property in thesaid ward,
and the said local board of improvement shall deposit the
said sum or sums of money so borrowed as aforesaid, with
the treasurer of the city of Norfolk to the credit of Bramble-
ton ward.
, 2. The treasurer of the said city of Norfolk is hereby au-
thorized and directed to reserve out of the taxes above
referred to, which are collected from Brambleton ward for
the year eighteen hundred and eighty-eight, such sum or
sums of money so borrowed as aforesaid.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
