Chap. 360.—An ACT to incorporate the Shenandoah driving park.
Approved March 2, 1888.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
W. W. Hutchinson, R. P. Page, and Marshall McCormick,
and such other persons as may hereafter be associated with
them, be and they are hereby incorporated and made a body
politic, under the name and style of the Shenandoah driving
park, for the purpose of a race and training course in the
county of Clarke, for the purpose of training horses and colts
and of giving exhibitions,of racing and trotting on their said
course. The said corporation shall have the power to acquire
by lease, purchase, or otherwise, as much land as may be
necessary for its purposes; to lease and let booths, stables,
and other privileges; to receive for training horses and colts,
and to appoint police officers for the said park and race
course, with power to make arrest in preserving the peace
and good order; to have, make, and use a common seal, and
to destroy, alter, or renew the same at pleasure; to make
such by-laws and regulations for the furtherance of the
purposes of the organization as may be wise and proper, and
generally to doany act or thing necessary to carry into effect
this act, and to promote the design and object of this corpo-
ration.
2. The capital stock of said company shall not be less than
one thousand dollars, nor more than twenty thousand dol-
lars, to be divided into shares of fifty dollars each; and when
the minimum capital stock is subscribed, and two dollars or
more per share paid thereon, the said corporation may pro-
ceed to organize as provided by law. Hach stockholder shall
be entitled to one vote for each share of stock held by him,

and such by-laws and constitution as shall be adopted by a
majority of the stockholders, shall be held and deemed to be
the by-laws and constitution of said corporation, and shall
not be altered or amended except as therein provided.
3. The said corporation shall have all the rights and privi-
leges conferred, and be subject to all the provisions of chap-
ters fifty-six, fifty-seven, and sixty-one of the Code of eigh-
teen hundred and seventy-three, so far as the same may be
applicable to and not inconsistent with this act.
4. The said corporation shall pay all of its taxes in lawful
money of the United States.
5. This act shall be in force from its passage.
