Chap. 328.—An ACT to provide for the collection of delinquent taxes
on real estate due to the town of Farmville for the years 1877, 1878,
1879, 1880, 1881, 1882, 1883, 1884, and 1885.
Approved March 1, 1888.
Whereas through a misconception and misconstruction of
the law relating to towns of less than five thousand inhabi-
tants, the proper steps were not taken by the town council
of the town of Farmville and the officers of said town to
enforce the sale of real estate, delinquent for taxes due said
town for the years eighteen hundred and seventy-seven, eigh-
teen hundred and seventy-eight, eighteen hundred and sev-
enty-nine, eighteen hundred and eighty, eighteen hundred
and eighty-one, eighteen hundred and eighty-two, eighteen
hundred and eighty-three, eighteen hundred and eighty-four,
and eighteen hundred and eighty-five, and the collection of
said taxes, by means of such sale; and whereas all of such
taxes are still due and unpaid to said town of Farmville:
therefore,
. 1, Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
unless said taxes shall be paid on or before the first day of
September, eighteen hundred and eighty-eight, the tax col-
lector of said town of Farmville, who is hereby authorized
and empowered so to do, shall proceed in the manner now
prescribed by law to advertise the said real estate so delin-
quent for taxes, and sell the same in front of the court-house
of the county of Prince Edward on some county court day,
after giving the notice required by law, upon the same terms,
requirements, and conditions as the law now directs tor the
sale of delinquent lands.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
