Chap. 250.—An ACT to incorporate the trustees of the Mu Sigma Rho
Library association of Chesterfield county, Virginia.
Approved February 24, 1888.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
Edson Bonney, William T. Gregory, George W. Thompson,
William M. Willis, Walter L. Bonney, their associates and
successors, are hereby made a body corporate by the name
of the trustees of the Mu Sigma Rho Library association for
the purpose of establishing and maintaining within the town-
ship of Bermuda, and in the vicinity of Bolling school-house,
so called district number one in the county: of Chesterfield,
Virginia, an institution to aid in promoting education, culture,
and refinement, and diffusing knowledge by means of a library,
reading-room, lectures, museums, and cabinets of art, and
historical and natural curiosities, with all the powers and
privileges, subject to all the duties, restrictions, and liabilities
set forth in all general laws which now are or may hereafter
be in force applicable to such corporations.
2. Said corporation may hold real and personal property
for the purposes aforesaid, to the amount of ten thousand
dollars; and all gifts, devises, and bequests thereto shall be
devoted to such purposes exclusively, and used in conformity
with the conditions made by any donor and expressed in
writing: provided such conditions are not inconsistent with
the provisions of this act: and provided further, that no part
of such real and personal property, or such gifts, devises, or
bequests, shall ever be removed from where said school-house
now is or its immediate vicinity.
3. The trustees of such corporation shall have authority
to fill all vacancies in any manner according, but the number
of said trustees shall never exceed seven.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage.
