Chap. 210.—An ACT to amend and re-enact sections 3 and 4 of an act
entitled an act qnpropriating the proceeds of the Glebe lands and
other property belonging to the parishes of Abingdon, Ware and
Petsworth, in the county of Gloucester, and for other purposes,
passed January 25, 1814.
Approved February 24, 1888.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
sections three and four of an act entitled an act appropriating
the proceeds of the Glebe lands and other property belonging
to the parishes of Abingdon, Ware and Petsworth, in the
county of Gloucester, and for other purposes, be amended and
re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§3. Be it further enacted, That whenever any vacancy
shall take place, either by death, resignation or otherwise,
amongst the said trustees, such vacancy shall be filled by a
majority of the acting trustees, subject to the approval and
confirmation of the judge of the county court of Gloucester.
§4. The said trustees and their successors are hereby in-
corporated by the name of the Gloucester charity school, and
by gs mane may sue and be sued, and shall and may be
capable of accepting, having and taking, for the benefit and
use of the said institution, any lands, goods or chattels which
may be to them given, devised or bequeathed, to be applied
according the terms of the gift, devise or bequest. That the
Gloucester charity school shall require its secretary and
treasurer to make out annually, on the first day of July, full
reports, showing the condition of the corporation, amount of
assets, whether realty or personalty, and how and where in-
vested; amount of income received during the preceding
year, and how and where expended, and present them to the
corporation, in meeting assembled, for approval; and when
approved, copies of said reports shall be made out by the
secretary, and by him signed and countersigned by the presi-
dent of the Gloucester charity schcol, and filed in the clerk’s
office of Gloucester county for the use of the public.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
