Chap. 401.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 1 of an act enti-
tled an act to protect the fish in the waters of the Mattaponi and
Pamunky rivers, approved March 3, 1886.

1. Be itenacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section one of an act entitled an act to protect the fish in the
waters of the Mattaponi and Pamunky rivers, approved
March third, eighteen hundred and eighty-six, be amended
and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§1. That it shall not be lawful for any person to fish in
the waters of the Mattaponi and Pamunky rivers, or in York
river above the mouth of Pocopotank creek on the north
side, or Ware creek on the south side of York river, nor on
the southern branch of Elizabeth river with fyke nets or
purse nets. Any person violating the provisions of this act,
shall be fined not less than one hundred dollars nor more
than five hundred dollars, and sball forfeit to the common-
wealth all nets, seincs, and boats used in violating the pro-
visions of this act. One-half of the fines shall go to the
informer: provided that no pound net shall be placed in
York river above Gloucester Point and Yorktown.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
