Chap. 30.—An ACT to incorporate the.North Loudoun telephone
company.
_Approved March 31, 1887.
1. Be it enacted by tho general assembly of Virginia, That
J. Matthew, G. W. Wiley, R. P. W. Jones, R. W. Tavenner,
C. C. Bell, B. H. Hammerly, H. Hoe, L. 8. Moor, J. D. Stock,
J. W. A. Virts, G. W. Bowers, R. E. Hough, W. D. Thomp-
son, and J. H. Price, and such others as may be associated
with them and their successors, be and are hereby constituted
a body politic and corporate under the name of the North
Loudoun telephone company; and as such may sue and be
sued, may have, make, and use a common seal, and change
or alter the same at pleasure, and may make such by-laws
and regulations for the government of said company as may
be necessary.
2. The said corporation shall have authority to acquire,
erect, and maintain telephone lines and offices in the county
of Loudoun, and may erect and maintain its lines along the
public highways, but not to obstruct the same.
3. The capital stock of said company shall not be less than
three bundred nor more than five thousand dollars, to be di-
vided into shares of ten dollars each.
4. The officers of said company shall be a president, vice-
president, secretary and treasurer, to be clected by the board
of directors of riot less than five to be elected by the stock-
holders in gencral meeting, and until that time J. Matthew
shall be president; G. W. Wiley, vice-president; R. P. W.
Jones, treasurer; R. W. Tavenner, secretary; and C. C. Bell,
B. H. Hammerly, H. Hoe, R. P. W. Jones, and L. 8. Moor,
the board of directors. |
5. The liability of the stockholders of said company shall
be only to the extent of the stock subscribed for by them.
6. Said company shall have power to connect with lines of
other telephone companies in the county of Loudoun, Jeffer-
son county in West Virginia, or Frederick and Washington
counties in Maryland, on terms to be agreed upon.
7. Said company shall pay all taxes and duties to the com-
monwealth in lawful money of the United States, and not in
coupons. | oe
8. The principal office of said company shall be at Hills-
boro’, until otherwise located in the county of Loudoun.
9. This act shall be in force from its passaye.
