Chap. 191.—An ACT to confirm the sale of certain property by the
kchool board of the city of Portsmouth.
Approved May 12, 1887,
Whereas the city of Portsmouth bas recently caused to be
constructed in the fourth and second school districts in said
city, large and commodious brick school buildings for the use
of the public free schools of said city in localities more cen-
traland convenient than the old ones; and whereas, after the
erection of said buildings as aforesaid, and for the purpose of
furnishing each of said school buildings with new and modern
school furniture and appliances, tbe school board of the city
of Portsmouth sold and conveyed to Mrs. Francis A. West
the land with the old buildings thereon in the fourth district,
and to the city of Portsmouth the land with the old build-
ings thereon in the first district; and whereas there is a doubt
existing as to the power of the said school board to make the
conveyances as aforesaid; therefore,
1. Beitenacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
he sale and conveyances made as aforesaid to the said Frances
\. West and to the said city of Portsmouth is bereby ratified
nd confirmed in accordance with the terms and conditions
f said deeds, with power to the said city of Portsmouth to
ispose of the property conveyed to it in accordance with
he provisions of the charter of the said city.
2. ‘This act shall be in force from its passage.
