Chap. 128.—An ACT authorizing and empowering the councils of the
city of Norfolk to establish and maintain a public park.
Approved May 2, 1887.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the councils of the city of Norfolk be and are hereby author-
ized and empowered to establish and maintain a public park
for the city of Nortolk.
2. The councils of the city of Norfolk may acquire the
land or lands necessary for said park purposes, not to exceed
three hundred acres, either by gift, purchase, or condemna-
tion, in the counties of Norfolk or Princess Anne or both.
3. The councils of the city of Norfolk are hereby empow-
ercd to make such rules and regulations for the government
ot said park, and to elect in joint session such officer or off-
cers, and may fix the pay of the same as they may think
proper, for the maintenance and good government of said
park.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage.
