Chap. 82.—An ACT to amend and re-enact an act entitled an act for
the relief of Peyton R. Ford, late Collector of Madison Township,
Charlotte County, Virginia. |
Approved February 5, 1886.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That,
the auditor of public accounts is hereby authorized and directed
to accept from Joseph O. Snell, Fenton T. North, A. D. Ford,
and the personal representatives of C. M.*Pugh, deceased,
sureties of Peyton R. Ford, late collector of Madison township,
Charlotte county, Virginia, or any one of them, in the bonds of
the state, with all unmatured coupons attached, ‘ssued under
the act approved February fourteenth, eighteen hundred and
eighty two, entitled an act to ascertain and declare Virginia’s
equital:le share of the debt, and so forth, to the amount of the
balance now due .by them upon a judgment in favor of the
commonwealth against said Peyton R. Ford, late collector as
aforesaid, and his sureties, for the sum of thirteen hundred
and fifty dollars and twenty-nine cents, to be discharged by the
payment of nine hundred and fifty-two dollars and forty-four
cents, with interest thereon from the eighth day of August,
eighteen hundred and seventy-eight, until paid, in full discharge
of all liability of said sureties by reason of said judgment:
provided said bonds shall be delivered on or before the first
day of July, eighteen hundred and eighty-six; and that nothing
herein shall be construed as releasing said Peyton R. Ford from
his liability upon said judgment.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
