Chap. 64.—An ACT to authorize the Board of Supervisors of the
county of Bedford, to levy a poor-rate on each magisterial district
in said county, and to provide for the support of the poor in the
district. :
Approved February 1, 1886.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the board of supervisors of the county of Bedford be and they
are hereby authorized and empowered, if they shall so elect,
to provide for the support and maintenance of the poor of each
magisterial district in the several districts of said county.
2. At their annual meetings, for the purpose of making the
county levy, the board may make a separate levy, to be called
the poor-rate, for each district in said county, which poor-rate,
when collected, shall be applied to the maintenance and sup-
port of the poor of each said district exclusively.
3. The treasurer of said county, if the board of supervisors
shall make such separate levy, shall apportion to each tax-
payer his part of the poor-rate in each district, and make out
the tax tickets with this item separate, and he shall keep the
fund collected for the poor-rate in each district separate from
all other funds.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage.
