Chap. 463.—An ACT to provide for the payment of a judgment re-
covered by Madison Flanagan against the Board of Directors of
the Central Lunatic Asylum of Virginia.
Approved March 6, 1886.
Whereas Madison Flanagan, on the nineteenth day of Janu-
ary, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, recovered a
judgment against the board of directors of the Central lunatic
asylum of Virginia, on account of rescission of the contract
awarded said Madison Flanagan for the brick and carpenter’s
work to be done and materials furnished in the erection of said
Central lunatic asylum, as required by chapters two hundred
and forty-five and two hundred and forty-six of the Acts of
Assembly, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-one and
eighty-two, which said judgment was for the sum of six thou-
sand one hundred and fifty-nine dollars and fifty cents, with
interest thereon from the nineteenth day of January, one thou-
sand eight hundred and eighty-four, and costs; and whereas
the supreme court of Virginia has affirmed said judgment, so
that there is a liability on the state of Virginia for the payment
of said judgment: therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the auditor of public accounts of Virginia be and he is hereby
authorized and directed to draw his warrant upon the treasurer
of the commonwealth of Virginia, in favor of Madison Flana-
gan, or his attorneys, for the sum of six thousand one hundred
and fifty-nine dollars and fifty cents, payable out of any money
in the treasury of the state not otherwise appropriated by law.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
