Chap. 450.—An ACT to authorize the Lynchburg and Salem turnpike
company to transfer to the city of Lynchburg the portion of said
turnpike road lying in the city of Lynchburg.
Approved March 6, 1886.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
it shall be lawful for the Lynchburg and Salem turnpike com-
pany to transfer to the city of Lynchburg, and for said city to
receive and thereafter have the control and management, as in
the case of its other streets and alleys, of so much of the said
turnpike road as lies within the limits of said city.
2. Such transfer shall in nowise effect the right of the said
turnpike company to charge, receive and collect tolls for the
section of said road from which such transferred portion is
taken, as if such transfer had not been made.
3. The transfer authorized in the first section of this act
having been approved and requested by a resolution of the
board of directors of the said turnpike company, passed on the
twenty-seventh day of November, eighteen hundred and eighty-
five, and by the council of the city of Lynchburg, by a resolu-
tion passed on the fifteenth day of November, eighteen hundred
and eighty-five, the same shall take effect from and after the
approval of this act.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage.
