CHAP. 351.—An ACT to provide for a new registration in the county
of Stafford.
Approved March 1, 1886.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
each of the registrars of the several election precincts of the
county of Stafford shall, on Monday, the second of August,
eighteen hundred and eighty-six, proceed to register the names
of all the qualified voters of his precinct who reside therein,
and, according to law, are entitled to registration, giving notice
of the time and place thereof for at least ten days before com-
mencing such registration, by publication of said notice in the
Fredericksburg Star, a newspaper published in the city of
Fredericksburg, and by posting a notice thereof at not less than
five public places within his precinct. Said registrars shall
complete said registration within six days from the time ot
commencing the same, nd immediately after completing the
said registrations shall cause to be posted at three or more pub-
lic’places in their respective precincts lists of all persons ad-
mitted by them to registration.
2. In all other respects, except as herein provided, the duties
of said registrars shall be as prescribed in the general registra-
tion laws of the state; and in making said registration, and in
all registrations hereafter, the registrars shall, in every particu-
lar, except as herein provided, be guided and controlled by the
said general registration laws of the state; and the registration
thus made shall have the same force and virtue as though the
same had been made under the general registration laws of the
state, and shall be revised, altered and amended in the mode
prescribed in such laws. The registration made under this act
shall take the place of all registrations heretofore made in said
county. |
3. The secretary of the commonwealth shall furnish the clerk
of the county court of Stafford with so many registration-books
as may be necessary to carry out the provisions of this act.
4. This act shal] be in force from its passage.
