CHAP. 331.—An ACT to amend and re-enact the first section of an
act for the protection of fish in New river and its tributaries. Ap-
proved December 1, 1884. :

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of , Virginia, . That
section one of an act entitled an act for the protection of fish
in New river and its tributaries, approved December first, eight-
een hundred and eighty-four, be amended and re-enacted so as
to read as follows: an
$1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
it shall not be lawful for any one, prior to October the first,
eighteen hundred and eighty-seven, to fish in New river, or its
tributaries, with any seine, net or trap of any kind, with any
other implement except hook and line. But this act shall not
be construed as preventing the use of minnow seines and nets
for the purpose of catching baits; nor shall the provisions of
this act apply to mill ponds and private fish ponds, though
they may constitute a part of the stream. :
2. This act shall-be in force from its passage.
