CHAP. 307.—An ACT declaring the North Fork of Clinch river, in
the county of Scott, a public highway.
Approved March 1, 1886.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
North Fork of Clinch river, in the county of Scott, is hereby
declared a public highway, for the purpose of floating logs and
lumber from Double Ford, at Forge Hill, to its mouth.
2. The owners of mill dams across the said creek are re-
quired to erect and maintain a substantial apron or shoot to
facilitate the passage of logs and lumber over their dams; and
upon failure to erect and maintain said apron or shoot, shall be
liable for the loss or damage sustained by any person by reason
of such failure.
3. This act shall be in force from the first day of November,
eighteen hundred and eighty-six.
