to carry forward certain unproductive balance on county levies.
Approved March 1, 1886.
Whereas it appears from the annual settlement of the treasu-
rer of the county of Augusta, that there is standing to the
credit of the county levies for said county, to pay outstanding

amounts for the following years, respectively, viz: eighteen
hundred and seventy-one, twenty-seven dollars; eighteen hun-
dred and seventy-two, ninety-eight cents; eighteen hundred
and seventy-three, one dollar; eighteen hundred and seventy-
four, five dollars and fifty cents; eighteen hundred and seven-
ty-five, five dollars and eleven cents; eighteen hundred and
seventy-six, fifteen dollars and sixty-two cents; eighteen hun-
dred and seventy-seven, twenty-six dollars; eighteen hundred
and seventy-eight, four dollars and two cents; eighteen hun-
dred and seventy-nine, six hundred and seventeen dollars and
forty-two cents; eighteen hundred and eighty, nine dollars and
nineteen cents; eighteen hundred and eighty-one, thirty-seven
dollars and one cent; eighteen hundred and eighty-two, three
hundred and twenty-three dollars and forty-eight cents; eight-
een hundred and eighty-three, two hundred and thirty-nine
dollars and six cents; making a total of one thousand, three
hundred and twelve dollars and thirty-three cents, as an un-
productive fund retained in the hands of the treasurer of said
county, with or about the same annual balance on each year’s
settlement. And whereas it is believed that many of said war-
rants have been lost, destroyed, or mislaid, therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the treasurer of said county of Augusta be and he is hereby
authorized and empowered to carry said balance of one thou-
sand three hundred and twelve dollars and thirty-three cents, or
such part thereof as may be proper, to the credit of the levy of
eighteen hundred and eighty-five; and the board of supervisors
of said county are hereby authorized to issue new warrants
upon any subsequent levy, as to said board may seem proper,
to replace any outstanding unpaid warrant or warrants from
the year eighteen hundred and seventy-one tothe year eighteen
hundred and eighty-three inclusive, which may hereafter be
produced to said treasurer for payment on said levies, or either
ofthem. The provisions of this act shall also apply to the bal-
ance on account of the dog tax levies from the year eighteen
hundred and seventy-five to the year eighteen hundred and
eighty-four, inclusive, and for each year thereafter; and said
treasurer is authorized to bring forward any balance of said
levies of previous years in the same manner as is before pro-
vided for in this act.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
