Chap. 208.—SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION to authorize the gov-
ernor to take such proceedings as may be necessary to fix the
boundary line between Virginia and Tennessee.
Approved February 24, 1886.
Whereas the boundary line between the state of Virginia and
the state of Tennessee has never been definitely ascertained
and fixed; and whereas it is believed, if the true line was estab-
lished between said states, it would add a large area of territory,
and other taxable values, to the state of Virginia: therefore
1. Be it resolved (the house of delegates concurring), That
the governor of Virginia be and he is hereby authorized to con-
fer with the governor of Tennessee with reference to said boun-
dary line, and to proceed in such other manner as may be
deemed advisable to ascertain and fix the same.
2. If the purpose of this resolution caunot otherwise be ef-
fected, then the governor is hereby authorized to employ
counsel to institute such proceedings in the courts as may be
necessary to have the boundary line between said states defi-
nitely ascertained and fixed.
