Chap. 128.—An ACT for the relief of the sureties of A. F. Creel.
Approved February 16, 1886.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the auditor of public accounts is hereby authorized and di-
rected to accept from George H. Creel, R. A. Thompson and
W. A. Jeffries, sureties of A. F. Creel, late collector of Mar-
shall township in Fauquier county, or any of them, in the
bonds of the state, with all unpaid coupons attached, issued
under the act approved February fourteenth, eighteen hundred
and eighty-two, entitled an act to ascertain and declare Vir-
ginia’s equitable share of the debt, and so forth, to the amount
of the balance now due by them, computing the interest thereon
at the rate of six per centum per annum, by the default of the
said A. F. Creel: provided the said bond shall be paid to the
treasurer within one year after the date of the passage of this
act. Nothing herein contained shall be construed as releasing
said Creel from his liability for the difference between the
amount due by him and the market value of the bonds so
received.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
