Chap. 104.—An ACT making an annual appropriation fer the sup-
port of the home of R. E. Lee Camp No. 1 Confederate veterans.

Whereas, by an act of the general assembly of Virginia, ap-
proved March thirteenth, eighteen hundred and eighty-four,
entitled an act to incorporate R. E. Lee Camp No. One Con-
federate veterans, said association was empowered to found a
home for invalid and infirm Confederate soldiers, and by the
terms of said act of incorporation, the board of public works
of the state, and the judge of the circuit court of the city of
Richmond, are made visitors of said association, in the event
that aid shall be given by the state; and whereas said associa-
tion has founded and erected a home, near the city of Rich-
mond, for the purpose of maintaining such disabled soldiers as
are unable to provide for themselves, and have at this time a
considerable number of inmates: therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the sum of not exceeding ten thousand dollars be, and the
same is hereby annually appropriated out of the treasury of
the commonwealth for the maintenance of said home.
2. The treasurer of the board of visitors of the soldiers
home Confederate veterans shall quarterly report to the audi-
tor of public accounts, the number of veteran soldiers resident
at said home; thereupon the said auditor shall issue his war-
rants on the treasurer of the commonwealth for the sum of one
hundred and twenty dollars per capita per annum, payable in
quarterly instalments: provided the amount appropriated shall
not exceed ten thousand dollars in any one year.
3. The board of visitors of said association are required to
report to the general assembly the condition of said home, the
number of inmates, cost of maintenance, and such other sta-
tistics as may be of interest to foster said institution.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage.
