Chap. 9.—An ACT to allow the Deputies of Stephen H. Turner, late
county treasurer of: Amherst county, further time to return lists of
insolvents and delinquents.

1, Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
Henry Loving, Junior, R. H. Drummond, Will E. Powell,
and ‘James R. Cunningham, deputies of Stephen H. Turner,
late county treasurer of Amherst county, and each of them,
shall be and they are hereby allowed until the first day of
September, eighteen hundred and eighty-five, to make returns
of insolvent and delinquent lists of taxes for the years eigh-
teen hundred and seventy-nine, eighteen hundred and eighty,
eighteen hundred and eighty-one, eighteen hundred and
eighty-two, and eighteen hundred and eighty-three, and when
such lists have been certified by the supervisors of the re-
spective districts for which the same are returned, and by
the county court of said county, the sureties of said treas-
urer on his official bond given by him on the sixteenth day
of June, eighteen hundred and seventy-nine, shall be allowed
proper credits with the supervisors and school boards of said
county, and the auditor of public accounts shall credit said
sureties by whatever amounts said supervisors and county
court may certify as being insolvont upon their indebtedness
to the state by reason of their liability upon said official bond
of said treasurer.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
