Chap. 186.—An ACT for the relief of the sureties of J. H. Blair, late
treasurer of Wise county.
Approved December 1, 1884.
Whereas J. H. Blair, late treasurer of Wise county, was a
defaulter to the treasury, and left the state without having
settled his accounts, leaving a number of claims for jury and
other service due to individuals from the state, which are
usually paid oy county treasurers; and whereas J. D. Collier,
M. M. Wells, Francis Sturgill, Ellington Wells, John Hun-
sucker, Jeremiah Hubbard, H. C. Williamson, J. M. Neal,
William Boggs, J. H. Stallard, A. C. Wells, H. C. Jones, P.
M. Mills, and J. H. Snodgrass, the sureties of the said J. H.
Blair, have paid off and discharged a large number of the
said claims; and whereas the time has expired within which
the said claims are payable at the treasury of the state;
therefore, ’
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the said sureties of the said J. H. Blair, treasurer aforesaid,
shall have credit witb the auditor of the state for whatever
amounts they have so paid which were a charge upon the
state treasury, in the settlement of their accounts as sureties
aforesaid, notwithstanding the time has expired within which
they are payable by the auditor.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
