Chap. 515.—An ACT giving the consent of this state to the acquisition
by the government of the United States of so much land as may be
necessary for a gun foundry, and other necessary buildings.
Approved March 18, 1884.
1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the consent of the state of Virginia is hereby given and
granted to the purchase or acquisition by the government of
the United States, or under the authority of the same, of so
much land as may be required for a site for a gun foundry,
and other necessary buildings, in the state of Virginia.
2. That this state retains concurrent jurisdiction with the
United States over such land, so that courts, magistrates and
officers of this state may take such cognizance, execute such
process, and discharge such other loval functions within the
same as may not be incompatible with the consent hereby
given.
3. The lots, parcels or tracts of land so acquired, together
with the tenements and appurtenances for the sinposes before
mentioned, shall be exempt from all state, county and muni-
cipal taxation so long as the United States shall be and re-
main the owners thereof.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage.
