Chap. 489.—An ACT to amend section five of an act prescribing the
duties of certain county otticers.
Approved March 17, 1ss4.
1. Beit enacted by the gencral assembly of Virginia, That
section five of an act entitled an act prescribing the duties,
powers, liabilities and Compensation of certain county officers,
providing for the collection of taxes, and for the nope al of
chapters thirty-seven and forty-six of the Code of e cihteen
hundred and seventy-three, approved March twenty-nine,
eighteen hundred and seventy-tive. and all acts amendatory
thereof, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
$5. No person holding the otlice of attorney for the com-
monwealth, judge of the county court, clerk of the county
or eircuit court, or sheriff, county or city treasurer, or super-
intendent of public schools for any county or corporation,
shall hold any other office elective by the people; and if any
person shall be elected to two or more of such offices, his
qualification in one shall bea bar to his qualification in any
other, and they shall be filled as other vacancies.
2. ‘This act shall be in torce from its passage.
