Chap. 441.—An ACT to authorize the Board of Supervisors of Hanover
county to let public roads to contract.

Approved March 15, 1884.

1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
in addition to the special road law in force in the county of
Hanover, approved April seventh, Anno Domini eighteen
hundred and eighty-two, the board of supervisors for said
county are hereby authorized and empowered, whenever in
their judgment it is necessary or proper, to Iet the public
roads of their said county, or any part thereof, by contract
to the lowest bidder, the contractor to give bond, with sufti-
cient security, to be approved by said board of supervisors,
that the work will be done according to contract.

2. That the said board of supervisors shall pay for the
working of said roads so let to contract out of any money in
the hands of the treasurer of said county not otherwise dis-
posed of, and may levy a tax for this purpose, not exceeding
fifteen cents on one hundred dollars worth of property, real
and personal.

3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
