Chap. 439.—An ACT declaring the present mayor and council of Chase
City, Virginia, the legul mayor and council.
Approved March 15, 1884.
Whereas an amendment to the charter of the town of
Chase City, county of Mecklenburg, state of Virginia: pro-
viding that the election of mayor and council of said town,
be held on the twenty-sixth day of May, instead of first
Tuesday after first Monday in November, as provided in
original charter; and whereas the said amendment did not
finally pass both branches of the legislature; and whereas it
was reported that said amendment had passed both houses,
and thereupon believing such to be the fact, the mayor and
council were duly elected in accordance with said amend-
ment, and have in good faith, believing themselves legally
elected, levied and collected taxes, made contracts, and so
forth; therefore,
1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
said mayor and council are hereby declared the legal mayor
and council of said town, and that all action taken by said
mayor and council be declared legal, and of full force and
virtue.
2. This act shall be in force from date of its passage.
