Chap. 399.—An ACT to appoint B. P. Green and John A. Parker
avents to prosecute to settlement certain cluims of the state of Vir-
ginia ayainst the United States.

Whereas by joint resolution number twenty-one of Vir-
ginia assembly, adopted seventeenth January, cighteen hun-
dred and fifty, Thomas Green: was appointed avent for the
state of Virginia to prosecute to settlement certain claims of
the state of Virginia against the United States, and subse-
quently John A. Parker was associated with him; and whereas
by certificate of the members of congress it appears that the
said partics, as agents aforesaid, have faithfully endeavored
to recover the amount due the state, and that by their able
and strenuous exertions a bill for the payment of the said
claim is now pending before congress; and whereas the said
Thomas Green has departed this life; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the gencral assembly of Virginia, That
Bernard P. Green, is hereby appointed in the place of the
said Thomas Green (his father), deceased, to prosecute, in
association with the said John A. Parker, to settlement, the
said claims of the state of Virginia against the United States,
upon the terms and conditions specitied by the act or acts
creating the said Thomas Green and John A. Parker agents
us aforesaid, except so far as the said terms and conditions
are in conflict with this act.
2, And be it further enacted, That the treasurer of the
state is hereby authorized and directed to pay to Bernard P.
Green and John A. Parker, jointly, and upon their receipt, ten
per centum on any sum or sums appropriated by the congress
of the United States, for the payment of said claims, and
paid to the state for amount due from the United States.
