Chap. 368.—An ACT for the relicf of the creditors of Central township,
in the county of Rockingham.
Approved March 10, 1884.
Whereas it is represented to the general assembly of Vir-
gina that the late township board of Central township, in
the county of Rockingham, tailed to provide for the payment
of all debts of said township before the first day of July,
eighteen hundred and seventy-five, when the powers of said
board ceased, and there 1s now no legal mode of providing
for the same; and whereas it is represented that there are
still debts of said township unpaid, and that there is money
due the said township uncollected, which may be made avail-
able for the payment of said debts; therefore,
1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
it shall be lawful, and the board of supervisors of “the county
of Rockingham is hereby authorized to collect all money and
debts due and unpaid to the late township board of Central
township, in the county of Rockingham, on the last day of
Juno, cighteen hundred and seventy-five, and which have not
since been pud; and to this end said board of supervisors
shall be invested with all the rights and powers which were
vested in the said township board while in existence, and the
amount so collected shall be applied by said board of super-
visors to the payment of the outstanding debts of said late
township, as ascertained and determined by the said board of
supervisors ; and full authority is hereby granted said board
to ascertain and determine said unpaid debts, without regard
to the statute of limitation, as may be just and equitable;
and if any surplus shall remain after the payment otf the
debts, said remainder shall be applied by said board of super-
visors for the benefit of Central magisterial district, in the
county of Rockingham: provided that nothing m this act
shall be construed to authorize the said board of supervisors
to levy any tax to provide a fund for the payment of any
debts which may be ascertained and allowed under this act
against the said Central township, or to collect by levy or
otherwiso any unpaid taxes heretofore assessed against any
tax-payor of said township: and provided further, that no
claims against said Central township which have been passed
upon by the proper authorities heretofore, can be considered
or passed upon again under authority of this act.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage, and remain
in force until the first day of July, cihteen hundred and
eighty-five.
