Chap. 313.—An ACT to enable the Danville and New River Railroad
Company to obtain further subscriptions to the capital stock of said
company.
Approved March 7, 1834.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the Danville and New River railroad company be “authorized
and empowered to issue to counties along the line of its road,
preferred stock for any subscriptions in addition to those for
which bonds have already bcen delivered to said company,
which said counties, or any one of them, may hereafter make
to the capital stock of said company, upon such terms asa
mijority in amount of the stockholders of said company may
arree on in general or special meeting.
"2. That the judge of the corporation court of Danville,
upon the request of the president and directors of said com-
pany, at any time after the first day of January, cighteen
hundred and eighty-five, shall cause an election by the people
of said town, to be held in the manner prescribed by law,
upon the question of a subscription by said town of sixty
thousand dollars to the capital stock of said company ; and
whenever it shall appear by the returns of such election that
a majority of the registered frecholders and three-fourths ot
the voters at such election, and a majority of the revistered
voters, the same shall be made, and the council of said town
shall thereupon make, issue and deliver to said company
bonds of said town, running not less than thirty years, with
interest-bearing coupons at the rate of six per centum per
annum attached, to the amount of sixty thousand dollars, in
auch denominations as said company may desire, receiving
from said company a proper certificate of stock for six hun.

3. All acts and parts of acts or provisions of law in conflict
with this act are hereby repealed.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage.
