Chap. 201.—An ACT for the relief of Frank C. Johnston, High Con-
stable for the city of Portsmouth.
Approved March 1, 1884.
Whereas it appears from a certificate of the clerk of the
hustings court for the city of Portsmouth, that Frank C. John-
aton, high constable of the said city, did, on the eighteenth
day ‘of “May, eizhteen hundred and eishty -three, arrest one
W. "S. Watson, for violation of the thirty-tirst section of the
revenue laws of Virginia, chapter one hundred and nineteen,
Acts eighteen hundred and cighty-one-two; that the anid
Watson was indicted in the said court of hustings for the
offence, and admitted to bail for his appearance; that he
failing to appear when called, the court declared the bond
forfeited, and entered judgment in the sum of two hundred
and fifty dollars against him and his sureties, which said
amount was duly paid over to the commonwealth of Vir-
ginia; and whereas under the said thirty-first section, the
informer is entitled to one-half of the fine imposed; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the auditor of public accounts is hereby authorized and
directed to issue his warrant in favor of Frank C. Johnston,
hieh constable for the city of Portsmouth, for the sum of
one hundred and twenty-five dollars, payable out of any
money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, it being
one-balf of the two hundred and titty dollars paid into the
treasury as above mentioned.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
