Chap. 186.—An ACT for the relief of the sureties of John G. Kasey.
Approved February 26, 1884.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the auditor of public accounts is hereby authorized and
directed to accept from R. L. Dearing, William H. Lee,
Senior, John W. Kasey, W. Burton, John C. Franklin, A. O.
Burks, BE. T. Walker, John A. Wilson, W. S. Jones, J. M.
Peters, Robert H. Jeter, C. A. Lupton, and George E. Skin-
nell, sureties of John G. Kasey, late treasurer of Bedford
county, or any of them, the bonds of the state of Virginia,
with all unpaid coupons attached, issued under the act of
February fourteenth, eighteen hundred and eighty-two, to
the amount of the balances now duce for the revenue of Bed-
ford county, for the years eighteen hundred eighty-one, eigh-
teen hundred and eighty-two, and eighteen hundred and
eighty-three, computing the interest thereon, at the rate of
six per centum per annum, by reason of the default of the
said John G. Kasey. Nothing herein contained shall be con-
strued as releasing said John G. Kascy from his liability to
this state, for the Tifference between the amount due by him,
and the market value of the bonds so received: provided
the said bonds shall be paid to the treasurer, within two
years after the passage of this act: provided further, that
this act shall not take effect unless the sureties of said Kasey
shall, within ninety days from the passage of this “act, con-
fess judgment in the circuit court of the city of Richmond,
for the whole amount of said Kasey’s indebtedness to the
commonwealth.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
