Chap. 104.—An ACT for the relief of the sureties of A. F. Creel.
Approved February 12, 1884.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly ot Virginia, That
the auditor of public accounts is hereby authorized and
directed to accept from George H. Creel, R. A. Thompson,
and W. A. Jeffries, sureties of A. F. Creel, late collector of
Marshall township, in Fauquier county, or any of them, in
the bonds of the state, with all unpaid coupons attached,
issued under the act approved February fourteen, eighteen
hundred and eighty-two, entitled an act to ascertain and
declare Virginia’s equitable share of the debt, and so forth,
to the amount of the balance now due by them, computing
the interest thereon, at a rate of six per centum per annum,
by reason of the default of the said A. F. Creel: provided the
suid bond shall be paid to the treasurer, within one year after
the passage of this act. Nothing herein contained shall be
construed as releasing said A. F. Creel from his liability for
the difference between the amount due by him, and the
market value of the bonds so received.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
