Chap. 33.—An ACT to authorize the trustees vf the Baptist church of
Danville to sell certain property.
Approved April 7, 1882.
Whereas the trustees for the congregation of the Baptist
church (white) of Danville, Virginia, have purchased a lot
on Main street, in said town, and desire to move their church
and parsonage from its present site to the new lot; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
P. B. Law, P. W. Ferrell, 5. W. Pace, L. B. Conway, and J.
T. Avertt, and their lawfully-appointed successors in office,
all of the town of Danville, trustees of the property belong-
ing to the congregation of the Baptist church (white) of
said town, situated on the corner of Tazewell alley and Pat-
ton street, whereon the church and parsonage now stand, be
and they hereby are empowered to sell the same and convey
the title to the purchaser and to invest the proceeds in the
erection of a suitable house of worship, and other improve-
ments, on said new lot on Main street, lately purchased by
M. Moore and wife.
2. Be it enacted further, That the said trustees and their
successors in office be empowered to hold the said new lot on
Main street in trust for the benefit of said congregation and
church and contract for the erection of such houses thereon
as may be needful! for the use of said congregation.
3. Be it enacted further, That the said trustees or their
successors be and they hereby are empowered to sell the
rear portion of the said new lot, which fronts on Pine street,
and to make title thereto, so far as the same may not be
necessary for the church edifice and otber purposes.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage.
