Chap. 9.—An ACT to amend the charter of the town of Berryville, in
the county of Clarke.
Approved January 14, 1882.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section two of the said act of February ten, eighteen hun-
dred and seventy-three, be amended and re-enacted so as to
read as follows:
§ 2. That the corporate limits and bounds of the town of
Berryville shall be follows: beginning at the northeast cor-
ner of the Episcopal parsonage lot; thence, with the line of
said lot, a western course, to a point on the western side of
the Charlestown turnpike; thence, with the line of said pike
northward, to a point on the same, the intersection of the
northern line of Thompson’s and Ogden’s lot, purchased of
Helvestine, with said turnpike; thence, with the said line ot
Thompson and Ogden and the line between John O. Crown
and Miss Annie M. Smith’s, in a western course to the poin
of intersection with the line of A. Moore, Junior; thence
with the line between said A. Moore, Junior, and said Crown
in a southern course, extending said line across the Winches
ter pike and into the Tyson land, to its intersection with :
line starting from the southmost corner of James H. Vande
venter’s lot on the Millwood turnpike, and at right angles t«
the line of said pike; thence, by the said line last mentionec
to said Vandeventer’s said corner; thence, by a line due eas:
to its intersection with a line parallel to the line of the Shen
andoah Valley railroad and one hundred yards east thereof
thence, from said intersection with said parallel line, in :
northern course to its intersection with the said line of saic
Episcopal lot, prolonged towards the east, and thence witk
said prolonged line to the beginning.
2. And be it further enacted, That section twelve of the
act approved October twenty-nine, eighteen hundred and
seventy, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 12. Whenever from any cause a vacancy shall occur in
the office of councilman, town sergeant, treasurer, or asses.

ity of the council, fill such vacancy by electing some resident
of the town, eligible under this act, to such office.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
Chap. 9.—An ACT to allow the trustees of the Methodist church at
Big Lick to sell property.
Approved March 29, 1882.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That it shall be
lawful for the trustees of the Methodist Episcopal church
(colored) at Big Lick, Roanoke county, Virginia, to sell, or
to execute mortgages or deeds of trust, for the purpose of
borrowing money upon the church building and property of
said church, situated at Gainsborough, Roanoke county, Vir-
ginia, and execute all such instruments in writing as may be
necessary and proper in disposing of said property.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
